Hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C) is a blood test that measures average blood sugar levels over the past two to three months.

Well, it officially feels like summer. Here in Vancouver at least, the weather has been unseasonably nice. Soon, kids will be let out of class for the summer. The days are getting longer and I’ve already had one sunburn. It’s going to be a good summer – I can feel it.

May Day, also known as International Workers' Day, is celebrated around the world on May 1st. This day has a rich history that dates back to ancient times. It has evolved from being a celebration of spring and fertility to a global holiday that commemorates the struggles and achievements of workers.

The roots of May Day can be traced back to various ancient festivals. The Celtic Beltane festival, celebrated on May 1st, marked the beginning of summer and was a time of great fertility and abundance. The Roman Floralia festival, which took place in late April and early May, was dedicated to the goddess Flora and celebrated the arrival of spring. The Germanic Walpurgis Night, celebrated on the night of April 30th, marked the end of winter and the beginning of spring.

Kidneys play an important role in maintaining the right balance of electrolytes, hormones, phosphorus, calcium, and metabolism acidity levels our bodies need as they filter out waste products, metabolic solutes, excess minerals, and toxins. Other causes include autoimmune disorders such as lupus, congenital defects present at birth, inherited genetic abnormalities like polycystic kidney disorder, and urinary tract infections caused by bacteria entering through contaminated water sources from outside the body system.

Most people are unaware of the risks associated with kidney disease and its devastating effects. Kidney disease can cause a slew of health problems, including anemia, high blood pressure, proteinuria (excessive levels of protein in urine), fatigue, fluid retention and even death. Fortunately there are several steps you can take to reduce your risk for developing this serious condition:

1) Control Your Blood Pressure: High blood pressure is one major factor that increases your risk for kidney failure or damage over time. Work with your doctor to monitor it regularly using medications if necessary as recommended. Engage in activities such as yoga, walking, running, etc. which help to lower blood pressure naturally along with taking prescribed medicines.

The Stanley Cup Playoffs have a long and storied history. The NHL’s championship playoff tournament has been around since the league began in 1917, with its first champion being awarded to the Montreal Wanderers on March 14th of that year. Since then, teams from all over Canada and much of the United States have competed for hockey’s ultimate prize every springtime season.

Before there was an official Stanley Cup Playoff tournament each team would compete against one another during regular-season play as well as at exhibition matches at neutral sites such as Madison Square Garden or Maple Leaf Gardens. Afterward, four clubs were chosen by vote to participate in what we now know today known as the Stanley cup Finals. By 1932 this format was expanded into two divisional round robin tournaments; one involving three American based teams – Boston Bruins, New York Rangers and the Detroit Red Wings– and one including the five Canadian franchises – Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Maroons, Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators and theHamilton Tigers. As soon as these initial series ended it marked the beginning of the current "Best Of Seven Final Series" between Eastern And Western Conference Champions which continues until present day! 

In 1933, after completing their demonstration tour across Europe through England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Italy, Hungary, and many more nations, the NHL decided that Patrick Trophy Winners (Eastern Conference) would face off against the Campbell Trophy winners (Western Conference) for the right of crowning themselves “Stanley Cup Champions”.

Lord Stanley of Preston, the sixteenth Earl and Governor General of Canada from 1888 to 1893, is best known for his strong connection with hockey. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed playing lacrosse as well as ice skating on the frozen Rideau Canal near Ottawa during winter months.

In 1892 Lord Stanley proposed that a challenge trophy be presented annually to "the champion hockey team in the Dominion." The proposal took hold quickly among enthusiasts across Canada; within three years four clubs had formed: Montreal's Victorias (1893), Toronto’s Blueshirts (1894), Quebec City's Bulldogs (1903) and Winnipeg’s Victorias (1905). Since it first came into existence over 120 years ago this cup has been awarded every year – except in 1919 due to the Spanish Flu epidemic – to NHL champions ever since being renamed “The Stanley Cup”' after its donor.

Neptune is the eighth and farthest planet from the Sun in our Solar System. Named after the Roman god of the sea, it has some intriguing characteristics that make this world an interesting subject to explore.

Although much about Neptune remains a mystery, we have been able to learn quite a bit since its discovery back in 1846 by Johann Galle. Galle discovered the planet using mathematical predictions by Urbain Le Verrier and John Couch Adams. Its mass is estimated at 17x10^25 kg which makes it slightly more massive than Uranus but still considerably less than Jupiter or Saturn; however due to their great distance from Earth details are far harder for us to study in depth compared with closer planets like Mars or Venus. We know that it rotates on its axis every 16 hours 6 minutes while taking nearly 165 years to orbit around the Sun – making one revolution roughly equal to two times the length of a human lifetime!

Structure wise, it is composed primarily of hydrogen (83%), and helium (15%) other elements include methane ice grains, water vapor, ammonia, carbon monoxide, and various hydrocarbons. These elements give the surface its distinctive blue hue seen through telescopes when viewed by earthbound onlookers. It is also believed to contain large core metals.

But what really sets apart? Apart from being the coldest, most distant celestial object known to man, mankind can observe it directly without the aid of technology such as space probes, satellites, or other technologies. Atmospherically speaking high pressure winds blow outwards from the equator, increasing steadily towards the poles. This creates visible banded cloud structures made up of small droplets of frozen methane gas. Along those lines deep down beneath layer clouds lies a mysterious “Water World,” speculated to hold vast seas, and oceans. Though none of these are actually confirmed, the very possibility makes Neptune a tantalizing prospect for further exploration.

Yes, men have sent probes to Neptune. In 1989, the Voyager 2 space probe became the first and only spacecraft to explore this distant planet in our Solar System. The spacecraft flew relatively close to Neptune on August 24th of that year before continuing its journey out into interstellar space beyond our Sun's realm of influence. Its mission was a success as it provided us with valuable scientific data about Neptune which scientists had never been able to study up until then such as its composition (mostly hydrogen and helium), atmospheric pressure, and temperature structure at various levels within the atmosphere.

Neptune is the eighth and farthest planet from our Sun. It has an extreme climate due to its distance, which makes it one of the coldest planets in our Solar System with temperatures ranging between -218°C (-360 °F) and +35°C (+95 °F).

At Neptune’s core lies a layer composed mostly of ice, water vapor and ammonia. This extraordinary internal structure generates heat through gravitational compression as well as via radiogenic elements decaying during radioactive processes giving rise to high temperature readings on the outer layers near the cloud tops where they can reach 35º Celsius (256 K).   Therefore astronomers consider that this gas giant does not have what we could call “a surface” since there are no solid particles at all – just gasses suspended by wind currents located hundreds of kilometers above ground level (or sea-level if you prefer calling it so). They form clouds made up mainly out of methane, hydrogen sulfide or even neon for instance! As these clouds move around rapidly in different directions because their atmospheric winds push them away very quickly creating spectacular effects that allow us to contemplate unique sights when observing from telescopes here on Earth.

On thermodynamic conditions down below where pressure becomes much higher than normal levels experienced here on Earth; low temperatures come into play. We guess then that such an environment gets close enough to an absolute zero point thus reaching approximately minus 218 degrees Celsius (−361K), making Neptune colder than any other known place within our Universe. This means that we consider it to be a faraway frozen desert.

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated around the world on April 22nd. This day marks a worldwide effort to raise awareness and appreciation for our planet’s environment, with activities such as planting trees, cleaning up parks or beaches, picking up trash from roadsides and other civic initiatives that protect nature in some way. The Earth Day Network coordinates events each year across 193 countries with 1 billion people participating all over the globe – making it one of largest public displays of support for environmental protection ever seen!

Originating back in 1970 during a time when there was growing concern about air pollution caused by industries like oil refining companies, worn-out cars running unrepaired through cities spewing out noxious exhaust fumes into the atmosphere – activists came together to demand cleaner energy sources beginning what we now know today as “environmentalism”. It began when U.S Senator Gaylord Nelson declared his intention to organize teach-ins on college campuses nationwide. In 1971 he launched "A National Teach In On The Environment" which became known simply as “Earth Day”. It has since become established globally every April 22nd (the same date) providing us all an opportunity annually to assess how well humankind is doing at looking after our home. How are we traveling towards reducing emissions and meeting sustainability targets set by various governments etc.?

Since its launch more than 50 years ago many successes have been achieved due to this global initiative; including bringing attention to deforestation, pushing legislation through congress designed to protect wildlife habitats, cutting down toxic emissions created by factories and power plants and signing international treaties to better regulate carbon dioxide output from nations contributing most heavily climate change.
